And A Whopper It Was!

Wow! I have to say this is one of the craziest things I've seen. What I thought was going to be just a little snow and maybe a power outage ended up being much more!

The damage here is worse than Hurricane Irene.

I went out plowing with Sam last night and after we were done we were going to go back home and stay at my parents even though there was no power. We plowed for a little while and it was really hard to get around, there were trees and lines down all over. It ended up getting so bad that Sam wasn't even comfortable driving around anymore. We didn't finish plowing and we tried to go home...yep I said tried, cuz we didn't make it. We tried about 5 or 6 different to get there but to no avail. We would be driving along and bam there was a tree down. Or there were power lines down. We actually drove right into some power lines because they came up on us so fast that there was no time to stop. Luckily we could back out and I don't think they were live. It was actually kind of scary! You could just stand outside and it sounded like gunshots were going off but it was trees breaking. And then it would look like lightning but it was a transformer blowing!

We ended up staying at my apartment because that's the only place we could get to...and there was still power! :)

We went back out this morning and things were a bit better but it's still a huge mess. We had to fill up with gas and only found 2 gas stations that had power. Each of them had lines of cars out in the road waiting to fill up!

So needless to say, I think we made some type of history, I mean how many times is church cancelled in August AND October!!! I mean seriously!!!

This was when it was just starting and I thought that was something to be excited about...not so much anymore!

Poor Kasey wanted to come in :)

From here on out the pictures are not going to be in any particular order, I'm just going to leave them in the order they upload.

Can you see the stop sign in there? There were huge limbs down right in an intersection.

This is a road off of one of the roads that Sam plowed on. No way anyone's getting down there!

I took this picture because the tree was so pretty with it's fall colors. It's like an oxymoron.
Sam had to move some limbs out of the way for some people before he could even plow.

This was at the very beginning of the storm when we had a whopping 2.5 inches!!!

This is right down the road from Mom & Dad's house.

On 140. There were state plows all over cutting up limbs.

I think this is one of my favorites. It looks like you're driving through a tunnel. There are trees from both sides of the road and the only thing that is keeping them from falling down is the power lines. Crazy!

The next two pictures are on 83.

This is at Mom & Dad's just this afternoon. First time I had been back since I left last night.

This is how much we have now!

This is outside my back window at my apartment.

Steve and Dorothy's tree.

Another of the tree in the back of Curt & Sally's.

I hope I got all the pictures on here I wanted to. I'm on my way out so this was kind of a quick post but at least you can see a little bit of what it looks like around here.

We're In For A Whopper!

Well here goes!

It's been snowing for less than an hour and there is already a full layer of snow on the ground...like you can't see the grass :(

It looks kinda like a winter wonderland out there...and the sad part...it's OCTOBER 29!!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!!

When did this start happening????? That's what I would like to know!!!

But since it's snowing and I will admit it actually looks pretty out there, I just have to play my Christmas music...as if I haven't already been listening to Christmas for a month now :/

I was just in Enfield and when I went in target there was no precipitation at all but when I came out about a half hour later what do you know, it was raining/snowing. I drove uphill the last part of the way home (which is actually my parents house for the week because they are in FL...stinkers!) and the higher I got the more it turned into snow...lots and lots of snow and it was already accumulating. It was kind of funny because I'd be driving along and I'd pass a truck hauling a boat, and next thing you know there was a plow...I thought that was kind of humorous :)

I'm using my parents computer, their old computer, so old it doesn't have a place for a memory card, therefore I can't upload the pictures I just took of the lovely white stuff. I will take more pictures as we get more and I'll upload them when I get back to my apartment :)

The Perfect Remedy

When you start to get a stuffy nose and you can't breathe you go home and take some Shaklee, including but not limited to

Defend & Resist Complex
Alfalfa Complex
Nutriferon

Then you don't sleep 100% at night and you wake up and take that all over again. Then go to work...and deal with customers all day and a coworker who won't let you come near her because she doesn't want to get sick. Overall you just feel awful...

So what do you do???

Well of course you stop at Big Y on the way home from work and pick up some soup. Make the soup, a nice hot mug of coffee, a nice tall glass of cold water and take 20 alfalfa! :)

There you have it....the perfect remedy! :)

Except I still don't feel 100% :( Oh well, I feel a lot better than with most colds...

Buell's Orchard

I love Buell's Orchard...I love the memories I have of going there as a kid and going on the hayride.

Last weekend Deanna, the girls, Sam and I went and it was so much fun! It was a bit chilly on the hayride but that was no big deal :) We got to pick out some pumpkins and pick some DELICIOUS apples!

Look at these two...aren't they just so cute?

Kenzie had enough I guess :)

We got out to the pumpkin patch and we were walking around trying to find a nice round pumpkin. I wanted to find one for Kenzie that was small enough that she could hold it to take a picture. I saw this tiny one and figured she could just use it for the picture and then pick out a big one. Nope, she wanted to keep the little one and there was no talking her out of it! :) (Sorry her eyes are closed but this was the best picture of her pumpkin)

Kayleigh picked out a big one :) She had quite the time picking it up and I snapped this shot just in time because she wasn't holding it long :) I guess it's still pretty impressive that she picked it up at all though!

Uncle Sammy jumped in to help out :)

This is a happy picture...

...this one not so much :) If you notice the distressed look on Kayleigh's face that's because she had just fallen forward off her lovely pumpkin and landed in the mud/dirt, also notice the spots on her knees that were not in the previous picture...she was not happy :)

On the way back with their pumpkins!

There was a huge pumpkin there and I'm not even going to say how much I think it weighed because there is some argument between a few of us about how much it weighed :) Right Uncle Sammy? :) All I know is that it's bigger than both the girls.

Kenzie found the wagons that are used to carry pumpkins and apples that you pick. She decided she needed one for her pumpkin :)

And last but certainly not least, picking the apples! Well I guess I don't have any pictures of actually picking them but rather pulling the wagon with the apples we picked...same difference!

There you have it! That's all for now. I have some more pictures to post some other time but not now because I have more to do before my day is over :)

I Do Have Pictures...

Sorry, I've been super busy and I've been away from my apartment, and therefore my laptop, all week and I obviously haven't had a chance to post my pictures from last weekend. I promise they will be posted by the end of this weekend :)

I Love Fall!

I love it for the beautiful variety of colors.

I love it for the brisk cool weather.

I love it for the pumpkin spice coffee, and pumpkin flavored everything for that matter!

I love it for caramel apples.

I love it for hayrides.

I love it for picking apples (which I haven't done in so long!)

I love it for campfires.

I just plain love it!

And I can't wait until Saturday because I have the day off and I am going to Buell's Orchard with Sam and Deanna and Kayleigh and Kenzie!

I'll be sure to take lots of pictures so this blog is a little more interesting :)

I Gave In

So that pumpkin spice coffee that I mentioned I was craving in my last post...ya. I gave in ;) I figured I have to stop and pick up apple cider for young group anyway, why not just swing but good old DD?! I guess it was completely in the opposite direction but hey!
